Following on from out focus reports on Germany (c.f. article No. 11105), Poland (c.f. article No. 11199), and Sweden (c.f. article No. 11128), we continue our tour around pre-election Europe with a report on France. A record 34 national lists will go before the French electorate on 25 May 2019 in a bid to secure election for the country’s allocation of 79 seats in the European Parliament. In this report we summarize the main political parties’ social platforms.1Latest voting intention poll returns indicate that 5 lists are each garnering more than the 5% vote threshold needed to secure an EU parliamentary seat. These are:
- The Renaissance List (LREM), which is running neck-to-neck with
- The Prenez le pouvoir, backed by Marine le Pen (RN),
- The Union de la droit et du centre list (Les Républicains),
- The Europe Ecologie party list, and
- The France Insoumise party list.
