A law planned for mid-2008 is going to set up financial sanctions against companies which do not establish a plan to reduce the pay gap between genders by the end of 2009. (Ref. 070979)
After a conference on professional and pay equality between men and women which gathered, on November 26, social partners and the government, the Labour Minister, Xavier Bertrand, announced concrete measures to act upon these observations: in spite of a quite fleshy legal arsenal, the gap between men and women’s monthly wages was still of 25.3% in 2002 (last data available) and has only been slowly decreasing since the 1990s.
