Germany: 4.3 percent wage increase at Volkswagen

It comes as no surprise that Volkswagen’s social partners aligned themselves – with a few differences – with the agreement signed in the metal industry on May 19 (see our dispatch No.  120326).  “This very good result was achieved without many difficulties.  The result of negotiations mirrors Volkswagen’s success.  Permanent and temporary employees will enjoy it equally” rejoiced Hartmut Meine, leader of the IG-Metall in Low-Saxony.  It is true that, with €15.80 billion in net profit in 2011 – a record in Europe –, Volkswagen could hardly not be generous.  Here are the agreement’s measures.
