At the end of January, the German automobile manufacturer BMW announced the launch of its ‘Senior Experten Programm’, which will see the company bring on board the savoir-faire of thousands of its retired employees. Such individuals will offer their services according to BMW’s needs, in the capacity of consultants but with the status of temporary workers. The programme has numerous objectives: to continue enhance the transfer of expertise between generations, to mobilise an experienced, loyal and motivated workforce, and most of all to prepare for the retirement of the so-called baby boomer generation.
Mass appeal to senior citizens. Calling on the expertise of former staff in retirement is a measure that has been applied here and there in a variety of manners.
