The news. German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius’s draft legislation aimed at strengthening the reserve forces of the Bundeswehr (Germany’s national armed forces) is raising concerns among employers. The bill would abolish the principle of “double voluntarism,” under which both the employee and the employer currently have to agree to a period of reserve service.
