Companies which worked to improve diversity on the workplace reaped real advantages in terms of business, says a joint report of the employers’ and trade union confederations CBI and TUC published on June 2. (Ref. 080470)
Companies which recruit people based on their ability and potential, regardless of race, handicap, and religious or sexual preferences, have more productive employees and lower staff turnover and recruitment costs. Apparently, it also helps them understand their customers’ needs better, open up new markets, and fill in skills gaps. The report also shows that promoting diversity at work is not necessarily expensive, complicated or a legal minefield.
