After having refused to prop up the British subsidiary of Thai steel company SSI, the UK Government unveiled a package of support to help the 1,700 employees find alternative employment after being made redundant at the Thai firm’s Redcar steel plant on Teeside.
£80 million (€108 million) is the amount of aid that David Cameron’s Conservative Government will give to newly redundant Redcar steelworkers in order to help them find alternative employment.
