Make employers more responsible and train employees better. The Construction Forum, organized this week by the government, gathered trade unions, employers and other heath and safety organizations. Peter Hain, the Work and Pension Secretary, said that he was determined to fight against industrial accidents among building workers. “House and infrastructure building is booming, but I refuse to tolerate a parallel increase in construction deaths and injuries”, he declared before asking trade unions and the construction industry to work together in order to improve prevention on construction sites.
