British firms beard 50 billion pounds of accrued costs because of the working hours regulations that came into force in 1998, denounced the British Chamber of commerce (BCC) this week. (Ref. 06197)
According to the “Burdens Barometer”, the independent calculation of the costs to businesses, independently compiled by experts from the London and Manchester Business Schools and based on the Government’s own figures, the cost has risen from 39 billion pounds to over 50 billion in 2006 in order to adapt to the new regulations.
