The current provisions date to legislation from 2011 and weren’t really used due to inefficacy. On 08 August a decree was adopted that establishes a labor inspectorate platform (S.E.P.E.) in a bid to simplify the administrative procedures and so make recourse to mediation for individuals’ work-based disputes easier to access. Thus if the parties agree within the mediation framework, then disputes can be settled in twenty days without any litigation costs.
This mediation alternative has become more attractive again since workplace disputes have been increasing and industrial relations deteriorating in crisis and poverty riven Greece.
