Following a decision of the Hungarian Constitutional Court and in order to comply with Community law, the Parliament amended the rules on on-call time which came into effect on 1st July 2007. From then on, on-call time must be considered as wholly working time. (Ref. 070862)
Rules on working time. In Hungary, the legislation on working time is contained in the Labour Code. Hungarian labour law distinguishes between on-call service (ügyelet) and stand-by (készenlét). While an employee is on on-call service, he is obliged to be available at a place and for a period of time determined by the employer in order to be able to intervene immediately in case of need (typically like doctors).
