Whirlpool's restructuring plan envisages 691 job cuts in Italy (1.800 in Europe and 5.000 globally). On December 3, 2008, the multinational signed, with the trade unions, the agreement on the social plan for the Spini di Gardolo (Trento) site, which concerns 95 in 700 employees. (Ref. 081004)
Roberto Grasselli,
secretary of the Fiom Trento, thinks that the agreement concluded on the restructuring
of the Spini di Gardolo site “is positive.” The American multinational accepted unions’ request
for management of the restructuring’s consequences which “removes the social impact”
he told the CGIL’s daily, Rassegna:
15 employees will directly retire, and 80 others – the oldest first – will joint
the Mobilita system which enables employees from undertaking
entitled to the Cassa
Integrazione (CGIS) to stop work, receive compensation and bring decreased contributions
to companies which
hire them.
