In 2009, 790,000 were listed (as opposed to 875,144 in 2008), 1,050 of which were deadly (1,120 in 2008) – the lowest figure since 1951. Most analysts explain the drop in accidents by the decline in hours worked and the increase in unemployment because of the crisis.
