Italy: collective agreement in gas and water sector renewed

Following 16 months of tense negotiations, an agreement was reached on 18 May between trade unions and employer organisations to renew the collective agreement for the gas and water sector. The renewed agreement, struck by the Anfida, Igas, Anigas, Assogas, Confindustria-Energia and Utilitalia-Confservizi employer groups and the Filctem-Cgil, Femca-Cisl and Uiltec-Uil unions, will apply to 48,000 workers at more than 600 companies. It will now be subject to consultation by workers and covers the period from 1 January 2016 to 31 December 2018, providing an overall wage increase of 89 euros over three years.
