The main Italian iron and steel company – Ilva – and representatives from the Labour Department, union organizations and local authorities signed, on October 2, 2007, a historical protocol on the prevention of industrial accidents. (Ref. 070849)
Decrease the number of industrial accidents. The protocol’s goal is to reduce by 25% the number of industrial accidents by 2012, in line with the EU’s goals. The protocol’s signature is the result of a strong mobilization campaign in favour of security which Ilva unions have been leading for years (18.000 workers including subcontractors who work on the site).
