The news. On 7 July, the Dutch Parliament approved a bill aimed at providing “greater security” for flexible workers, i.e. individuals employed under precarious contracts who enjoy fewer protections than employees on permanent contracts. The new legislation, which will enter into force on 1 January 2028, introduces stricter rules to curb the repeated use of temporary contracts and abolishes zero-hour contracts.
