Since August 30, the plan to soften the law on dismissals (see our story 070669) no longer exists: the compromise found by Piet Hein Donner, the Minister of Social Affairs, did not form a consensus within the Foundation for Labour (Star) or within the economic and social Council. (Ref. 070711)
Social partners’ disagreement remains, and all options are open again. Employers already launched an offensive by proposing direct negotiations with unions aiming at getting a stiffening of the modalities which are already being discussed.
