Netherlands: the government wants to encourage work after the retirement age

Even if most employees do not want to work up to 65 years old (see our article of June 21), the government wants to encourage those who do not want to stop their career at the official retirement age. (Ref. 06669)

Henk van Hoof, the Secretary of State for Social affairs and Labour, proposed on June 23 a discussion between social partners in order to examine the possibilities, now legal, to continue working relationships past 65 years old. According to a survey ordered by the government to the research cabinet Astri, the barriers to employment after 65 are of cultural nature.
