Portugal: more strikes in oil, energy and transportation

The federation of heavy industry and oil unions, Fiequimetal, issued a three-day strike notice for September 17, 18 and 19, 2012. It is calling for wage increases and protesting against the new Labor Code, which came into force on August 1. In public transports, workers have launched a one-month action against the cuts to overtime payments. (Ref. 120503)

Energy, oil and chemistry. Fiequimetal, the federation of metal, chemical, pharmaceutical, cellulose, paper, graphics, energy and mining workers’ unions, issued a three-day strike notice for September 17, 18 and 19. The strike should mostly affect Galp Energia, the company that gathers oil, transformation, supply and gas (4,000 workers). The Federation is counting on a direct impact on fuel consumption since the strike will be after a weekend. Turnout could be high, “as a lot of workers too
