A cross-party parliamentary working group representing Portugal’s National Assembly has approved extending very short-term employment contracts. Their duration will be more than doubled from 15 to 35 days and going forward these contracts will be possible in all business sectors whenever a company is facing a peak in activity. Following a social collaboration agreement (c.f. article No. 10701) this working group was specifically established to speed up adoption of the nation’s overall labor legislative reform. Final confirmation is still required by the Parliamentary Labor Committee (lower house of Parliament) before the final parliamentary plenary session in mid July.
Very short fixed term employment contracts to become widespread.
