Spain: a directory of female company directors to ease the hiring of women in boards of directors

Spanish firms are looking for women to sit in their boards of directors. The aim is to anticipate the future law on gender equality (see our article n ° 06656). A new directory created by the Foundation of financial studies and the Confederation of female company executives (Fedepe) will help them to make this directory. (Ref. 06946)

Spanish firms listed on the stock market currently have only 50 women –vs.1300 men- in their directorates, that is to say only 4 % of administrators are women, against 8 % on average in the EU. This gap could soon be prejudicial in two ways, on one hand with the coming into force of the future law of gender equality (see our article n ° 06656), and on the other hand with the application of good governance codes written by the national Commission of stock markets (CNMV).
