Spain: adoption of a bill which recognizes workers’ basic right to information and consultation

The government approved, on February 2nd, a bill which amends the statute of workers. The innovations are designed to transpose two Community directives. One on workers' information and consultation, and the other on the protection of employees in the event of employer's insolvency. (Ref. 070105)

The preparatory project, presented on last 29 September by the Minister for Labour (see story n°06969), was changed to take into account the suggestions of the Economic and Social Council and the Council of State. The bill, which must now be subjected to the Parliament’s vote, transposes two European directives.
