Spain: new metal sector collective agreement covers gender equality on pay and regulation of remote work

The CCOO de Industria and UGT FICA trade unions and the employer federation Confemetal have ratified the fourth national collective agreement for industry, new technologies and services in the metal sector, which creates a framework for collective bargaining for a period of three years (2021 to 2023). The document, signed on 3 November, will serve as a guide for all branch or company negotiations and all regional agreements at provincial level.

The text updates the existing collective agreement, incorporating new decrees in the area of labour legislation. Among the primary new features are the employee rights related to the regulation of remote work (see article nº12135) and the obligation for companies to keep a working time register to avoid unpaid overtime (see article nº11038) as well as a detailed register of remuneration (see article nº12178), with a breakdown according to gender, position and seniority, with a view to ensuring
