Italy: banking sector employees approve trade unionsâ platform of demands as sector collective agreement still awaits renewal National industrial relations With the procedures for renewing the banking sectorâs collective bargaining agreement running behind schedule, the sectorâs social partners agreed to extend the previous agreement from its expiry date of 31 December 2022 until 31 July 2023. The workers' assemblies have almost unanimously (99.5%) approved the trade unionsâ âplatform of demandsâ so negotiations for renewing the sectorâs national collective bargaining agreement (NCA) should open imminently. The NCA covers some 280,000 employees.

Amendments introduced during the parliamentary debate include in particular the refinancing of a number of measures designed to facilitate generational renewal and the requalification of employees, as well as a further extension of the right to smart working for certain categories of workers. The Labour Law also relaxes standards on the renewal of fixed-term contracts, bolsters workers' purchasing power, and simplifies procedures on transparent working conditions.

Poland: remote work now regulated by law National legislation An amendment recently adopted by the Polish parliament provides a definition for remote work and sets out procedures for how such arrangements should be implemented at companies. With remote work now a feature of the country's labour code, employees may voluntarily opt for this, provided their employer agrees, on a regular or occasional basis.
Brazil: telework now entering in the Labor Code National legislation Law No. 14.442 of 02 September 2022 defines the concept of telework, which can be undertaken both inside and outside the country. The law specifies that an employee working remotely is not obliged to respect working hours but instead must carry out a certain number of tasks and report on his/her/their productivity. Teleworking employees are also entitled to luncheon vouchers, regardless of the number of days spent working remotely, and can now use them in any establishment.
