The trade unions UGT, CCOO as well as the drivers' union Semaf had called for 6 days of strike to protest against the transfer of the management of suburban trains (Cercanias) from the central administration to the Catalonia region. They gave up the mobilization after they signed an agreement with the Minister of Transportation to study together the new way the network is going to be managed. (Ref. 070783)
After over 10 hours of meeting, representatives from the department for transport, members of Renfe operadora’s (managing traffic) and Adif’s (managing infrastructures) works councils, as well as representatives from the main trade unions which had called for the strike – UGT, CCOO and the drivers’ union Semaf – agreed to take part together in a work group to study the new way in which suburban trains (Cercanias) are going to be dealt with as part of the transfer to the Catalonia region.
