Spain: unions and employers sign a series of agreements preparing for the labor market reform

Two weeks after acknowledging the impossibility to achieve the negotiations within the deadline given by the government to prepare the labor market reform, the social partners reached a partial agreement.  They left aside issues they couldn’t agree on, such as layoff requirements, and made progress on less thorny subjects.  Thus, they signed a series of agreements supervising wage increases and making internal flexibility easier in businesses by allowing derogations from the conditions contained in the sectoral or regional agreements.  The government may take account of the agreement signed between the social partners in the labor market reform it plans to reveal in the coming weeks.  Here are the key points of the agreements.
