The Spanish Minister of Labour and Social Affairs, Jésus Caldera, finished, on September 7, a series of visits to western Africa. The goal of these trips was to convince local governments to cooperate for the fight against illegal immigration, while offering in exchange Spain's commitment to open legal immigration networks. During the summer, Mr. Caldera went to Senegal, Mali, Mauritania, Guinea Bissau, Gambia, Guinea-Conakry, Ghana and the Green Cape, every time along with corporate managers likely to recruit.
