Sweden: the 2009 Finance Act aims to improve employment, support businesses and boost demand

Corporate tax and social security reductions. The government is also proposing a företagsskattepaket (fiscal package) for businesses that will result in a total tax reduction of 16 billion SEK (€1.6 billion) in 2009. The objective is to strengthen the driving forces that will generate investment and job creation in companies. Corporate taxation is set to fall from 28 to 26% and social security charges should decrease by one percentage point. This, combined with numerous simplifications to reduce administrative charges for businesses, should enable these charges to be reduced by 25% in 2010. The government would also like to improve integration and conditions for foreign people entering the labor market, and will be focusing on this issue in 2009-2010.

statlig inkomstskatt (income tax) for people who are in work. This measure to promote and incite people back into work will cost 15 billion krona (€1.53 billion) in 2009 and will concern nearly 97% of full-time employees, who will benefit on average from a tax reduction of 1.000 krona (€102.60) per month.
