The news. On May 18, the Swedish Parliament voted on a bill raising the salary threshold required to obtain a work permit for third-country nationals. This will increase from 80% to 90% of the median monthly salary (37,100 kronor) as of June 1st, 2026. This means that a salary of 33,390 kronor will now be required for the issuance of a work permit, instead of 29,680 kronor until now (3,068 and 2,727 euros respectively).
