The center-right government presented the guidelines of the health insurance reform, which is supposed to be the most important reform since 1992. It should come into effect on January 1, 2008, it mostly aims at reducing long sick leaves. (Ref. 070756)
Sweden is one of the European countries where long sick leaves are quite common. For about fifteen years, an increasing number of working-age people left the labour market because of burnout or other troubles. It is with the promise to solve this problem and to bring an important part of inactive people back to work that the center-right coalition had managed, last year, to drive the social-democrats away after they had been in power since 1994.
