Ukraine: measure to protect the labor market from the crisis adopted

The global financial and economic crisis (added to the chronic political unrest) is badly affecting Ukraine, especially its labor market. According to official declarations, unemployment should reach 10% in 2009, although international organizations foretell rates up to 25-35% for the same period. This new Act was developed, among others, by the Federation of Ukrainian Unions. It came into force on January 13, 2009 and is aimed at reducing the impact of unemployment, particularly by helping jobseekers more, reducing financial pressure over the unemployment insurance fund.
