Professional services group PricewaterhouseCoopers has introduced paid fertility leave for its staff. Launched on 1 July, this paid leave allowance offers staff members, regardless of their gender, the right to take 8 days off work per year to attend appointments for fertility treatment. Furthermore the partner of an individual undergoing such treatment will also be eligible for two days of paid leave.
“It’s the responsibility of employers to ensure everyone feels included, and taking steps like this new fertility leave policy helps ensure people feel supported and understood by the teams they work with day to day,” according to Laura Hinton, chief people officer at PwC UK. “Undergoing fertility treatment can be a deeply personal and challenging time for individuals, with many finding it has a negative impact on their mental health,” she adds.
