United States: Americans keep new health care law

Obamacare, the nickname given to the health insurance system voted in the US in 2010 (see our dispatch No. 100249), passed the Supreme Court test. The judges in charge of the case at the request of 26 American States reaffirmed, on June 28, the legality of this law. This is a great relief for President Obama and the democrats. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) is the biggest file the President undertook during his office. (Ref. 120433)

The man of the hour is Chief Justice John Roberts. Usually rather conservative, this time, he sided with the progressive wing and tipped the scale in favor of the Obamacare with a 5 to 4 vote.
