Veolia, the French water, waste and energy management services group, has unveiled a common base level of social protection for its worldwide workforce, dubbed "Veolia Cares". The programme announced on 11 September, will include base-level measures on parental leave, health and death cover and the opportunity to spend time on charitable or environmental work. Following the example of several groups of international scale, such as Sodexo a few months ago, Veolia has chosen to offer its employees a base level of social protection. This programme seeks to help to smooth out the differences in the social benefits enjoyed by the group’s employees due to the disparities in national legislation on social issues.
