While Auchan Retail continues to reduce retail areas by 25%, the Lille-based Administrative Court invalidated a job protection plan on September 23. The retailer, whose like-for-like turnover fell by 2.8% last year to €31.7 billion, and by 1.6% in the first half of 2025, presented this plan last November. It included 2,389 jobs cuts (i.e. 4% of the workforce in France), mainly part of support and store functions. In March, the agreement was signed by the CFDT, CFTC and CGC trade unions.
