In Brazil (population of 212 million), the United States launched an investigation in mid-July into PIX, the free instant payment system in Brazil, which can be used for all types of payments and is accessible via all mobile banking apps. The announcement, which follows the imposition of 50% customs duties on Brazil, aims to assess possible anti-competitive business practices against US players such as Visa, Mastercard, and WhatsApp Pay.
