Less than a month before the tax on small online parcels comes into force in the 27 EU countries, Brussels imposes a record fine to the low-cost marketplace Temu (PDD Holdings). This represents less than 0.5% of annual sales of the parent company and 1.6% of its net margin.

On May 28, 2026, the European Commission fined Temu (subsidiary of PDD Holdings, 2025 turnover: US$61.7 billion, up by 10%) US$233 million under the regulatory framework of the Digital Services Act. This follows a first assessment carried out in 2024.
