In Germany, the sporting goods retailer Decathlon has set up an ingenious system dedicated to sale of 2nd hand goods. “In 2017, we expanded our returns policy in Germany and our store managers were appalled by the number of returned products in stores,” said Marina Stassinopoulos who is the Sustainability Project Leader at Decathlon Germany. “The rate of returns in Germany is structurally higher than in other Western European countries, due to local customer habits.
