Although talks about Reliance Retail taking over Sephora's franchise rights in India have been abandoned, the Indian retailer is moving into beauty with its own omnichannel brand called Tira Beauty.

On January 30 2023, the partnership project between Reliance Retail (Q3 2022 turnover of US$2.91 billion, up by 14.8%) and Sephora was abandoned. This is even though the Indian giant was in advanced talks to obtain sales rights of the French beauty brand in India since September 21, 2022 according to mint. The LVMH subsidiary is therefore continuing an alliance with Arvind Fashion, which has held the franchising rights since 2015 and operates 25 stores in 13 Indian cities.
