Belgium: a new collective agreement on the prevention of theft and controls at the exit of the company or workplace

Social partners, who met within the National Labour Council (CNT,) ratified on January 30, the collective agreement n°89, relating to the prevention of theft and controls a the exit of the company or workplace (see our story n° 061108). The new collective convention is trying hard to conciliate both protection against theft and the respect of the workers' private life. (Ref. 070154)

The new collective agreement establishes guarantees profiting workers as part of the control procedures aimed at preventing theft in undertakings. Controls are allowed by means of the respect of principles of decisiveness, proportionality and transparency. Thus, employers have to consult the workers’ representatives on the procedure’s establishment and modalities.
