Czech Republic: warning strike in a Siemens subsidiary as part of the German group’s restructuring plan

The trade union of the Czech subsidiary which produces rail vehicles for Siemens, Kolejova vozidla, decided to launch a two-hour warning strike on August 20, as part of the negotiations which followed the announcement, on July 23, 2008, of the closure of the Praguish site. The union also denounced a breach of the Community law on the information and consultation of the European Commission and thinks that the Czech employees were sacrificed in favor of German jobs.
