On 13 June the European Chemical Employers Group (ECEG) together with the European union federation IndustriAll Europe signed an ‘a framework of action for sustainable employment and career development’ which is expected to foster European social dialogue and assist national organizations to meet the challenges facing the sector.
Where social dialogue adds an element of stability and clarity when the political climate is turbulent to say the least… thus was how Michael Vassiliadis, President of IndustriALL Europe contrasted the political climate in Europe and internationally with the stability of social dialogue in a sector that works with a view to sustainability and the long-term. The goal of the roadmap as formulated by the union organizations and employers’ bodies in 2015 (c.f. article No. 9329) was about establishing ‘a five-year roadmap for European social dialogue to examine everything that is at stake in the sector,” in the words of Sylvain Lefebvre, deputy secretary general of the IndustriALL Europe.
