Here is a dispatch with the report adopted by MEPs from the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs on the recast of the directive on EWCs (see our dispatch No. 080902) with a full analysis of this text, which will be referred to the Plenary Assembly of the Parliament on December 15. Amendments negotiated by the European social partners. In a letter sent to French Minister of Labor and current President of the EU Council of Labor Ministers, Xavier Bertrand (see our dispatch No. 080643), the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) and BusinessEurope asserted their support to the recast of the EWC directive presented by the European Commission in July (see our dispatch No. 080553) if a few amendments were included. MEPs from the Committee on Employment included them in their draft report. These amendments plan:
- The introduction in the definition of information that it should enable staff representatives to “undertake an in-depth assessment of the possible impact and, where appropriate, prepare consultations with the competent body of the Community-scale undertaking or Community-scale group of undertakings in question” (amendment 5).
