EU: skills and greens jobs on the 2009 agenda of the European Social Dialogue Committee in Electricity

The European Social Dialogue Committee in Electricity met on March 10 to validate its 2009 work program. The Committee, created in 2000, gathers the FSESP-EPSU – the European Federation of Public Service Unions and the EMCEF – the European Mine, Chemical and Energy Workers’ Federation for unions and Eurelectric for employers. The new work program was negotiated smoothly: in late 2008, unions and employers agreed on two codes of good behavior, the priorities of which are written down in the Committee’s 2009 agenda. These priorities are increased skills in the electricity sector and the impact of the “green economy” on employment.
