France: law is adopted allowing discrimination related class action

On 12 October, France’s parliament gave the green light to the adoption of a law particularly relevant to 21st century justice. The text in question looks to allow class action that contests workplace discrimination.

The law intends for a specific provision on workplace discrimination that can be used by representative union bodies (at company, establishment, sector, national, or cross-industry level). Associations that have for at least five years been involved in the fight against disability discrimination will also be allowed to initiate such action but only in situations that affect access to employment positions or access to internships.
