The Parliament voted, on March 25, 2008, the law concerning "several dispositions for the adaptation to Community law in the fight against discrimination". This law adapts French law with EU law in this field. (Ref. 080255)
The law
aims at transposing – within the deadline given, i.e. August 15, 2008 – parts
of the provisions of Directive 2006/54 of July 5, 2006 on the implementation
of the principle of equal opportunities and equal treatment of men and women in
matters of employment and occupation, which recasts former directives. In
addition, it transposes into internal law Directive 2004/113 EC of December 13,
2004 implementing the principle of equal treatment between men and women in the
access to and supply of goods and services, although the deadline for its
transposition was December 21, 2007.
