According to a study made by the Chartered Management Institute and by the association of fight against harassment at work, Andrea Adams Trust, the lack of managerial skills is the main factor which leads to bullying employees, and power abuse is the most widespread type of bullying. An ongoing campaign, which will reach its peak on November 7, declared day against bullying at work. (Ref. 070715)
513 senior managers were questioned in the entire country, in preparation for the national day against bullying on the workplace, which will take place on November 7. Two thirds of managers think that the lack in managerial skills is the first cause of bullying. The other factors are :
- character (cited by 57% of managers);
- types of authoritarian management (56%);
- failure in dealing with incidents (37%);
- unattainable goals (27%).
