The conciliation and arbitration service ACAS is warning that workplace harassment is a growing phenomenon in the UK and is calling on companies to change how they tackle the problem.
“Workplace bullying is never far from the headlines these days and there are worrying signs that it is on the increase,” stated Sir Brendan Barber, president of ACAS, in a report on trends in the workplace for 2016. The ACAS helpline specifically put in place for those being subjected to workplace bullying has received more than 20,000 calls. “Some people are reporting truly horrifying incidents including humiliation, ostracism, verbal and physical abuse,” he continued.
