The Conservative and Labour parties have now published their full manifestos for fighting the 7 May general election on. These contain a host of measures on work, employment and industrial relations covering pay, employment contracts, training, executive salaries, industrial action and family friendly policies.
Both the main political parties, Conservatives and Labour, have now published their full manifestos for fighting the 7 May general election on. Although certain items have been already trailed in the media, there were new measures contained in the manifestos. Labour had previously published on 1 April a more detailed manifesto called ‘A better plan for Britain’s workplaces’. Labour and Conservatives are the only parties capable of forming a government after 7 May although each may still need the support of the minor parties (Liberal Democrats, UKIP, SNP) to do so.

Further regulation of industrial action is the most significant proposal in the Conservatives’ manifesto.
