Great Britain: collective complaints and conflicts involving working time soar

Despite the implementation two years ago of out-of-court procedures to decongest employment courts, the statistics of this jurisdiction for the period 2005-2006 show an increase of 31 % in complaints, compared to the previous period. (Ref. 06939)

It seems that the main reason of this increase is the multiplication of collective complaints, which doubled over the period. Most of them involve salary inequalities at the NHS (National Health Service) and in local authorities. On the other hand, the number of individual cases has decreased by 3500, thanks to the new regulations which allow to reject and to send complaints for illegal dismissal and various grievances towards the new “Advisory reconciliation and arbitration service” (ACAS), wh
